Look and Feel Years Younger
Have you ever noticed how some people tend to age more gracefully than others? Take a look at Christie Brinkley. She first graced the cover of the famed Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue around 30 years ago. And she still looks amazing - in her 50s!
We all know someone like Christie - someone who manages to stay younger looking despite their years.
So, what is their secret? How do they manage to stay vibrant and look so hot?
One clear answer to this age-old dilemma is the habits you live with. Do you smoke? Do you drink enough water? How about exercise? Are you eating healthy foods or - like so many of us - settling for convenient fast foods? ( Or maybe one could say fat foods! )
If you want to look - and feel - years younger, take a long look at your habits and see what you might change to improve. If you smoke - take whatever steps you can to stop.
Do you get enough exercise? Really vigorous, heart pumping exercise? Just a little daily exercise offers the following benefits:
Helps you enjoy way more energy.
Keeps your body firm and flexible.
Keep your bones and muscles strong.
Keep your heart and lungs healthy.
Can vastly improve your sex life!
Controls high blood sugar, especially if you lose weight.
Exercise even reduces stress.
Help you feel better about yourself and enjoy greater self esteem!
Relieve boredom or depression.
The upside is clear - exercise more and you enjoy a better quality of life at any age! It's never too soon or too late to start a daily exercise program. Look at Christie - she looks like she gets plenty of exercise!
While you're at it - take an honest look at the food choices you make. If losing weight is on your list of goals for this year - the quickest way to lose weight is simply daily exercise and eating healthy foods.
If you want to look and feel years younger - make these simple and effective habits part of your daily life! Start getting in shape - fast.

What is the secret to better health? How do you improve your health and your life - without spending a small fortune on expensive medical solutions? Do you really need to shell out 50 bucks every month at that slick looking health and fitness club to enjoy life more?
Long before the advent of modern medical marvels and fancy fitness centers people around the globe enjoyed slimmer, trimmer body shapes than many of us do today. They worked hard and ate simple. They consumed more fruits and vegetables and less processed foods. The American fast food industry had yet to serve up a single hamburger.
Eating healthy foods does not have to cost you a fortune every month. You can possibly even save some of your hard earned money by preparing your own meals more often. All the while using simple, natural ingredients. Who doesn't love a good steak or lobster? And Pizza is about as close to what they simply must serve in heaven. Along with an ice cold beer!
Please don't take my advice on heaven. Or what kind of delights may be in store for those of us who end up there!
While we're here - hopefully enjoying life on Earth - doesn't it make sense to give yourself every possible advantage when it comes to your own health?
Try these classic, time honored exercises to help keep your body in tip top shape -
The Good, old fashioned squat. Great for your core area. Keep your feet shoulder-width apart and your back straight. Bend your knees and lower your rear as if you are about to sit down in a chair. Try to keep your knees over your ankles. Shoot for at least 2 sets of ten.
And how about the classic lunge? This simple exercise works all the major muscles of the lower body. Lunges can also improve your balance. Take a big step forward, keeping your spine straight. Bend your front knee to approximately 90 degrees. Keep weight on your back toes and drop the back knee toward the floor. ( And try to keep your knee from touching the floor. )
Finally, the most effective way to sculpt sexy looking arms - the good old fashioned push-up! Push-ups strengthen your chest, shoulders, triceps, and even your core muscles!
Get down on the floor with your face-down. Keep your hands just slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Place toes or knees on the floor, creating a smooth line with your body, from shoulders to knees or feet. Keeping rear-end muscles and abdominals tight, push your body up. Then lower and lift your body by bending and straightening your elbows, keeping your body in a straight line throughout the movement.
Feel that in your tummy? Are your harms hurting a little? Then your building muscles in all the right places!!
Want a tighter tummy? Maybe a slimmer looking belly? How about some simple crunches to the rescue!
Start by lying flat on your back with your feet flat on the floor and your hands behind your head. Press your low back down. Contract abdominals and raise first your head (tucking your chin slightly), then your neck, shoulders, and upper back off the floor. For the best results always do your crunches with your feet off the floor and knees bent. And focus on keeping your back straight. Try to maintain a straight line from your neck all the way down your spine. Avoid sticking your chin out. Never hold your breath. Try to keep your elbows extended and out of your line of vision.

Habits for a Better Life
The benefits you can realize from getting in better physical shape are reason enough to start or continue your own fitness program. No need to hire a personal trainer or join that fancy pants health club. You can enjoy better health and fitness by adopting just a handful of healthy habits.
Try these habits for the next 4 weeks and see for yourself:
1 Get at least 6 or 7 hours of sleep every night. ( If you are under age 20 - try for 9 hours of good sleep every night. )
"Yeah right" you may be thinking. Find a way! Heart Doctors say your heart lasts longer with a more sleep! Plus, your muscles need rest to rejuvenate!
2 Eat a healthy variety of natural foods. Skip the fast ( or should we say fat ) food temptation and opt instead for more fruits and vegetables every day! Enjoy some heart healthy cold water fresh caught salmon a couple times a week. Feed your body the healthy , natural fuels it needs.
3 Exercise - in some form - every day. Walking is a great way to start. Try a variety of sports and routines. Whatever you find you like. Invite a friend - enjoy healthy activities with your family. This just might become your favorite new habit!
4. Just get started. Set a goal for yourself for this week. Make it realistic and something you can actually do. Like "I will walk at lunch every day this week." Then do it. No excuses. Soon you'll find ways to make sure you get your daily exercise time.
Next month make your goal(s) a little bit harder. Walk or run a little farther. Get up a few minutes earlier if you can ( without sacrificing your nightly 7 hours of sleep ) and do some early morning exercise. Don't forget to stretch! Grab a protein rich breakfast and you'll be starting your day like the pros.
5. Learn how to stretch. Focus on the muscle(s) you are stretching and go slow. Breathe slowly and deep while you concentrate on how your body feels. Millions of healthy ( and skinny ) people around globe have discovered the joy of Yoga. That might be worth a few hours in a class or grab a free video at your local library and follow along.
Health professionals agree - if you want to enjoy life more and live longer - your odds are much better if you get some exercise most days of the week!
For the best results - try a balanced approach. Combine weight or resistance training every other day with daily aerobic exercise - like running, walking or even riding your bike!
Start building muscles and getting in shape - fast! You'll probably live longer and enjoy life more!

Be a Little Selfish
If you want to lose weight - or just whip your body into better shape - you'll almost certainly have to devote some time each day towards getting in better physical shape. If you decide to start working out more and getting some daily exercise - you may be faced with saying no to others. Be a little selfish. Closely guard your exercise time and your results will begin to show!
If you're like me you might find it difficult to say no when distractions or demands on your time interfere with other goals. Don't feel guilty!! Rest easy knowing you are taking care of yourself first. If you don't take care of your body - who will?
My college drinking buddies still enjoy tossin down a few cold ones. And that's great! Unless it takes away from my exercise time! Why not convince your friends to go running with you or get in nine holes? Maybe play tennis for an hour or two and then enjoy that frosty cool one!! Often the best tasting beer is that first beer after you've poured out a ton of sweat!
Getting in shape doesn't have to be a tedious task. The more fun you have the easier it gets to shed those extra pounds. You'll lighten your load and feel better about yourself to boot!
"The first care of all persons should be for their personal appearance. Those who are slovenly or careless in their habits are unfit for refined society, and cannot possibly make a good appearance in it. A well-bred person will always cultivate healthy habits. If a man would get through life honorably and peaceably, he must necessarily learn to practice self-denial in small things as well as in great. Men have to bear as well as to forbear."
The temptations we all are faced with can be hard to deny. Do yourself a favor and say no to those inevitable distractions. Getting in shape fast is a realistic, achievable goal. If you want a slim, sexier body - the best course is exercise and lose weight fast!

Don't Worry - Be Happy

We live in deeds, not years; in thoughts, not breaths;
In feelings, not in figures on a dial.
We should count time by heart-throbs. He most lives
Who thinks most, feels the noblest, acts the best.
BAILEY.
Does life ever give you so much you start feeling a little stressed out? Do you ever find yourself wishing you could escape the madness - if even for just a moment? You're not alone. Everyone gets stressed out.
And the good news is - there are a few simple steps you can take to greatly reduce stress.
Take care of yourself by maintaining your physical and mental health, because this makes it easier to bounce back when life’s unexpected twists strike.
Maintaining your mental fitness goes hand in hand with staying in good physical shape. Your mental health is – without a doubt - tied to your fitness level. It’s really just about living a healthy lifestyle. If you already exercise regularly, Congratulations! - you’re already on the right track! Medical science experts say that up to a quarter of the blood pumping through your body is delivering performance enhancing oxygen to your brain as you exercise.
Food choices are also vital to your brain’s overall health. Start by cutting the unhealthy fats from your diet. Some fat is actually good for you. Your brain actually benefits from healthy omega-3 fats. Cholesterol buildup can reduce the oxygen supply to your brain by almost 20 percent over time. Load up on foods rich in antioxidants, such as strawberries or red beans, to nurture brain cell health.
Add cold-water, wild caught fish like salmon to your diet a couple times a week. Eating fish helps reduce inflammation, increases your memory, and helps your brain send and receive messages efficiently. Eat lots of leafy green vegetables like spinach. Spinach – one of nature’s true super-foods – contains folate which is known to enhance your brain’s processing power!
Eating healthy foods can have a big impact on your mood. For breakfast, try oatmeal or eggs. Both contain an amino acid that helps boost the levels of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that makes you feel good. The protein in the egg-whites will help your muscles handle your daily exercise! Get your protein early in the day to fuel muscle growth and give your body an extra boost while working out!
For lunch - toss some dark red kidney beans in your salad. ( Try a low-calorie vinaigrette dressing on the side. ) Mix some frozen or fresh blueberries and strawberries in plain, nonfat yogurt! The antioxidants in them will help ward off workday stress. Then enjoy dessert with a small piece of chocolate! The chocolate will lift your mood, and the natural stimulant found in cocoa gives your energy level a pleasant mid-day boost!
For dinner, give your brain-power a boost with a piece of salmon. Add a side salad with leafy greens and spinach to increase folate levels and help keep depression at bay. During the day - try healthy snacks – like celery or a few ounces of low-fat cheese between meals.
If you find yourself getting a little low on patience - growing irritable or unfocused, take a little break and munch on an apple or a handful of walnuts and some dark chocolate! These help stabilize your blood sugar levels and help you avoid those mid-day energy drains!
If time permits - take a mental break for a few minutes. Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Take a few slow, deep breaths and then return to breathing normally. Clear your mind of whatever you’ve been worried about or working on. Think about something pleasing – your memories from a favorite vacation. Think about the sights, sounds and smells of a day at the beach – or one of your favorite places in nature! Nature has a real calming effect – so try to get outside for even a few minutes if you can for your momentary escape!
Wherever you choose to make your escape - clear your mind. Forget about or divert your attention away from everything cluttering up your mind! Focus instead on a single pleasant thought. Breathe in slowly. Take a nice deep breath and then exhale slowly. Stretch your body – slowly! You’ll soon feel a renewed sense of energy and clarity!
Take care of your health – invest a few minutes each day for healthy habits. Enjoy eating healthy foods, and exercise frequently. If you're a bit out of shape or haven't been getting enough exercise lately - start getting in shape fast.
Exercise is probably the single most effective habit you can use to enjoy life more and reduce your stress.
Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.—GOLDSMITH.

Work Hard and Reap Big Rewards

"God gives every bird its food, but he does not throw it into the nest." —J. G. HOLLAND.
Man is not merely the architect of his own fortune, but he must lay the bricks himself. If you want to Lose weight fast - your results will be a direct result of your efforts. If you want maximum results - work hard. Work smart and focus your efforts on the result(s) you desire.
There is no manhood mill which takes in boys and turns out men. What you call "no chance" may be your "only chance." Don't wait for your place to be made for you; make it yourself. Don't wait for somebody to give you a lift; lift yourself.
Henry Ward Beecher did not wait for a call to a big church with a large salary. He accepted the first pastorate offered him, in a little town near Cincinnati. He became literally the light of the church, for he trimmed the lamps, kindled the fires, swept the rooms, and rang the bell. His salary was only about $200 a year,—but he knew that a fine church and great salary cannot make a great man. It was work and opportunity that he wanted. He felt that if there was anything in him - hard work would bring it out.
"The first thing I have to impress upon you is," says J. T. Davidson, "that a good name must be the fruit of one's own exertion. You cannot possess it by patrimony; you cannot purchase it with money; you will not light on it by chance; it is independent of birth, station, talents, and wealth; it must be the outcome of your own endeavor.
Of all the elements of success in life few are more vital than self-reliance,—a determination to be, under God, the creator of your own reputation and advancement. If difficulties stand in the way, if exceptional disadvantages oppose you, all the better, as long as you have the focus and will to overcome them.
You really can have a much better, happier life. Work at developing a plan. Start small and as you progress - make each goal a little higher. Keep reaching your goals and extending yourself. You'll be amazed at all you can accomplish!
If you are determined to lose weight this year. If you want this to be the Summer you have more fun and look better than ever - you can make it happen. Start today. Make a plan. Start chipping away at short term goals and keep your eye on the ultimate vision. Focus your efforts - every day.
Keep eating healthy foods. Make a habit of daily exercise - and you can reach new heights. Have more fun. Enjoy life more. You really can exercise and lose weight fast.
Start getting in shape fast! Work hard and reap big rewards!

Prevent Diabetes and Obesity - Start Getting in Shape

Medical experts are warning of a potentially dangerous trend here in the USA. Are other countries faced with similar threats of obesity and the resulting health problems. Just look around - they are everywhere. Sitting across the aisle in church - or speeding down the highway. People are getting fatter. What is happening to us?
If this trend is left unchecked we here in the good old USA may be faced with a potentially explosive health crisis - and the resulting price tag. Much press has been devoted to the President's Health care agenda lately. The numbers are staggering. Over 800 billion dollars to provide health care coverage for an additional 36 million Americans.
If these medical scientists are even close to accurate in their dire prediction of more obesity and diabetes as a result - we are in for even more expensive health care prices. Diabetes is bad trouble - just ask anyone who has it. Or knows someone who does.
What if you could avoid this potential nightmare - and the incredible costs of treatment? What if you could avoid becoming one of the countless millions who just might develop diabetes due to the ever growing waistline?
Would you invest as few as 30 minutes a day to keeping these health issues at bay? Would you devote yourself to getting up and getting active for as little as a half an hour a day? Give our Children the Gift of Better Health

In the last 30 years, the percentage of children who are overweight has more than doubled, while rates among adolescents have more than tripled. The essential cause of the increase in overweight among children and adolescents is caloric imbalance, which results from inadequate physical activity, poor dietary choices, or both.
Most of our children spend 7 hours each weekday at school. The school setting offers multiple opportunities for students to enjoy physical activity outside of physical education class. A school-based physical activity program includes quality physical education, recess, and intramural sports.
Although some school districts have stopped offering it, most elementary schools continue to provide a daily recess period of at least 20 minutes. Numerous studies have shown that during recess, young people can burn off some that pent-up energy and stress from sitting in a classroom for hours on end. Daily recess periods can help rejuvenate our childrens focus and attention span.
Fitness has no age limits. The more we learn, the clearer it is: physical activity is vital to every stage of life.
Though young children seem to have boundless energy that makes them the envy of many adults, children today may be less fit than at any other time in history. One study showed that some 40 percent of U.S. children have at least one major risk factor for heart disease by the age of 12. Obesity and physical inactivity in children are linked to a host of health problems in later life.
Children benefit immensely from fitness activity, and there is evidence that habits formed early in life are likely to last throughout. Perhaps the best way to teach children the value of fitness is by example: kids who grow up in households with inactive adults are likely to be the same, and one of the biggest fitness motivators for any age is having physically active role models. Parents take note: by staying active you're not only keeping yourself fit and healthy, you're helping your kids live healthier, too.
How do we get started? Most of us need to take a simple approach: do something. The first step is just being more active even if its only a little. Start by walking; it can always be worked into your day. Anyone can do it any time, in almost any place, without any special equipment. The opportunities are plentiful: go for a walk after dinner instead of watching television; walk to work; walk to the store rather than driving; or take the dog or the kids for a long walk. A moderately brisk pace is preferable, but build up to it gradually.
Take some simple steps - today - towards better health and fitness for you and your children! Get a little exercise each day and start getting in shape fast!

They share a bond of helplessness, and hope - for each other and themselves. Ten years ago most of these people might not have even bothered to look at one another. Now they share smiles and kind, often unintelligible words.
They wait for young people - 60 years younger to help them navigate to their next destination. Back to their lonely, plain room or maybe to the lunch room or therapy room for their daily workout.
These 80-somethings are in recovery mode. Rebuilding their strength after hip surgery or knee procedures. They have hope. They want to walk on their own again.
Do yourself a favor. Get a little exercise every day.
Structured exercise programs bring obvious benefits, but most people can move toward better fitness by changing their daily lifestyle to incorporate more activity. Muscles used in any activity, any time of day, contribute to fitness. Here are some suggestions for incorporating more activity into your daily life:
* Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
* Park at the far end of a parking lot and walk to the office or the mall.
* If you ride the bus, get off a few blocks before your stop and walk the rest of the way.
* Get up from your desk during the day to stretch and walk around.
* Take a brisk walk when you get the urge to snack.
* Increase your pace when working in the house or yard.
* Mow your own lawn and rake your own leaves this autumn.
* Carry your own groceries out to the car. Or better yet - walk to the local market!
* Play outside with your children or grandchildren - it doesn't matter so much what - catch, hopscotch, or horseshoes - just keep moving.
When you’re ready for more vigorous activity, set realistic goals and expectations. Fitness and a healthy lifestyle are long-term endeavors, so start slowly, and work toward your goal gradually. Exercise Equals More Happiness

Some University did a study recently of successful people and their level of happiness. The findings were somewhat surprising. It wasn't about the money. Sure money can buy lots of cool stuff and help alleviate tons of common worry. These successful women and men - at least those who seemed to be the most content and at ease with their lives - shared several common traits - and habits.
They had a variety of interests and enjoyed playing as much ( or more ) than their chosen profession! They almost all believed in God and attended a Church regularly! They held family and friends quite high on their list of priorities. And the biggest majority of these content and fun-loving success stories exercises almost every day! They used exercise to help balance their lives and keep their stress levels to a manageable level!
These captains of life - enjoyed having fun - and had a variety of interests to enjoy and play at. They tended to enjoy eating healthy and staying fit. Their zest for life and living to the fullest was a persistent trait.
I'm no expert on happiness or financial success. But it sounds like these men and women - who all enjoy great success in their respective careers - have found many of the secrets to a better life!
Enjoy a variety of healthy pleasures! Have fun. Lots of it!
Eat well and Exercise frequently. Frequent exercise and healthy eating have both been associated with lowering stress and warding off depression.
Find a good Church - and believe in whatever you hold God to be!
Decide to be happy!
Pursue multiple interests.
Work Hard.
Play Harder!

Losing Weight - Slow and Steady

Deciding to lose weight, change your lifestyle, and become healthier is a big step! Start by making a simple commitment to yourself. Decide what you want out of a fitness program and set goals. Doing so will keep you on track and help you motivate yourself to achieve the goals you set. Many people find it helpful to put together a written plan. Your plan might include things like the amount of weight you want to lose, and your target date you'd like to lose the weight by. You might even write down the dietary changes you'll make to establish healthy eating habits, and a plan for getting regular exercise and physical activity.
Writing down the reasons why you want to lose weight can also help. It might be because you have a family history of heart disease, or because you want to see your kids get married, or simply because you want to feel better in your clothes. Post these reasons where they serve as a daily reminder of why you want to make this change.
Keep a "food diary" for a few days, in which you write down everything you eat. By doing this, you become more aware of what you are eating and when you are eating. This awareness can help you avoid mindless eating.
Everyone is different – what works for someone else might not be right for you. Just because your neighbor lost weight by taking up running, doesn't mean running is the best option for you. Try a variety of activities – walking, swimming, tennis, or group exercise classes to see what you enjoy most and can fit into your life. These activities will be easier to stick with over the long term.
Find family members or friends who will support your weight loss efforts. Making lifestyle changes can feel easier when you have others you can talk to and rely on for support. You might have coworkers or neighbors with similar goals, and together you can share healthful recipes and plan group exercise.
Frequent exercise or physical activity can help you live longer and improve your quality of life! Exercise doesn't need to be strenuous to improve health; moderate-intensity physical activity performed over the course of the day will usually result in significant health benefits for people of all ages. Everyday activities like walking may be the safest types of exercise for older or previously inactive people, because they put less stress on muscles and joints. If you've been out of shape for a while you might enjoy some simple low-impact exercise options.
Better fitness can be defined in many ways, depending on your goals, your current level of activity, and how much time you have available. A program that includes aerobics, resistance training and stretching will give you the greatest overall health benefits. Sometimes - slow and steady is the best course for lasting weight loss. Simply getting started is a vital first step. Make a promise to yourself. Then take immediate action!
The road to better health and fitness is a journey anyone can enjoy. Take that first step! Start getting in shape fast - by eating healthy foods and getting some exercise every day!

Fitness Fun

Getting in shape is really all about two basic changes in your lifestyle. You need to get your body moving - and start or keep eating healthy foods in moderation!
You don't have to do a bunch of boring exercises every day to get your workouts. You can burn calories and build muscles doing a variety of healthy physical activities!
Physical activity can be fun—you just need to figure out which activities you enjoy. The more enjoyable it is, the more likely you are to stick with it. Here's a few ideas:
Jumping rope with your children! Or take them to the park and just try to keep up with them!
Riding bikes with friends or family.
Walking or taking an exercise class with a friend or a group—that way, you can cheer each other on, have company, and feel safer when you are outdoors.
Starting a small garden in your yard or in a community garden.
Breaking physical activity into short blocks of time—taking three 10-minute walks during your day may be easier than taking one 30-minute walk.
No matter how busy you are, there are ways to fit in 30 minutes or more of physical activity each day. Try:
Spreading physical activity throughout the day, rather than doing it all at once.
Setting aside time to be active. For instance, if you make it part of your daily routine to walk after breakfast, you may not think twice about doing it.
Walking to do your errands, when possible.
Being active while doing other things. For example, you can lift weights or march in place while watching TV, or walk around your home while talking on a cordless telephone
Enjoy a healthy variety of different activities throughout the week to stay interested. The more fun you have the easier it is to get in better shape!
There are lots of ways to be physically active that are free or low-cost. Consider:
Finding a local park or school track where you can walk.
Walking around a mall.
Being active with your grandchildren—take a walk, toss a softball, or ride bikes.
Walking your dog or meeting up with a neighbor to walk together.
Checking out a fitness video from the library and following along at home.
Join a local team or club. Does your office have a company softball team? Softball is great fun at any age.
Keep eating healthy and getting some exercise most days of the week! Keep trying new and different activities and ways to enjoy working out. Two simple changes and and you'll be on the road to getting in shape fast!
