Getting in Shape Fast in the Winter

An early morning walk or run boosts your energy for the whole day! The cool, crisp air of these Autumn mornings is steadily turning colder as October draws to a close. This morning you could feel a tingle on your face. It was downright chilly! Fortunately not cold enough to make me turn around and go back to my easy chair!

Our local TV weather guy was predicting a lunch-time temperature 25 degrees warmer than at 6:00 AM. Almost made me shift my schedule around and run at lunch today.

Soon, we’ll be looking at daytime highs in the 30s – hardly ideal weather for outdoor sports. Many avid runners and sports lovers will tell you they love getting out in those colder temperatures. Not me.

I’m a wimp. Probably ought to pick up stakes and move to a warmer climate.

Many of us face the challenge of moving our running and exercise time indoors from November to April. Joining a gym or health club is one option. Growing numbers of avid health enthusiasts are opting to put low impact exercise equipment right in their homes. They are avoiding the expense of that health club membership. No more waiting to get on your favorite rowing machine. Or that treadmill with the clear view of the TV screen.

If you’re like me you might prefer working out inside when the temperature dips too far below freezing. Watching a favorite comedy or even just listening to an inspirational CD without those pesky headphones, makes indoor exercise time even more fun!

Health experts agree – the quickest way to lose weight – and keep it off – is with daily exercise and healthy eating. Start getting in shape fast and enjoy the benefits of a healthier, sexier body!

Snow in Vermont

This week on the Weather Channel I saw a picture of snow in Vermont! Beautiful Autumn colors with a thin layer of snow! In October!

As you might guess - we don't live in the picturesque state of Vermont. Our taste of the their wonderful Fall extravaganza is from afar.

Out here in the mid-section of the USA we got our first taste of snow this week. Many folks had to re-schedule their morning run due to colder than usual morning temperatures. And rain. And some - due to snow! In October!

Wouldn't it be nice if you could wake up and enjoy a nice hot cup of your favorite coffee in the warm comfort of home and then get in a great half hour of efficient and effective exercise - without even leaving the house?

The good news is - you can. If you want to keep up your exercise plan without battling the rain or snow this Autumn - why not turn your basement or that extra bedroom into your very own exercise room?

If weight loss is your goal - the quickest way to lose weight is to start getting in shape fast! Start eating healthy and burning more calories each day.

The $12,500 Weight Loss Solution

I thought I’d been around long enough to have heard it all!

Until yesterday afternoon.

Driving along enjoying the Autumn colors as they seem to intensify a little each day, I heard the most incredible radio spot.

Weight reduction surgery for “only $12,500”. My first car cost less than that – and it is still running – somewhere! If the hospital is spending money for advertising – they must be getting some poor, desperate souls to shell out the dough – or sign on for their convenient “ payment plan”. I wonder how long it takes for them to reduce your weight surgically?

And what are the long term effects of this fat-reduction surgery?

Wouldn’t it be much simpler and far less expensive to lead a healthier lifestyle – and enjoy life more in a healthy, fit body? Wouldn’t it be a better long term solution to get fit and stay fit? To enjoy more energy in everything we do? To enjoy a better outlook on life? To require less medical care than the average person who is not as healthy?

Health care costs have increased each year for as far back as most of us can remember. And, by all accounts are expected to continue their upward spiral.

Save your money. Protect your assets – start getting in shape fast and enjoy a better, healthier lifestyle! If weight loss is one of your goals - you can start eating healthy, get plenty of exercise and lose weight fast! Health and fitness experts agree – the quickest way to lose weight is with plenty of exercise and healthy eating habits! Or you could sign up for the miracle weight reducing surgery cure – for only $12,500!

How to Lose Stomach Fat

One of life’s greatest mysteries - How to Lose stomach fat - has been haunting me for weeks now. Ever since we spent an afternoon at the local pool and I was too embarrassed to take off my shirt. I’ve somehow grown a beer belly. If I were a woman people would ask me when the baby is going to arrive. Yep – its time to start losing a few pounds – around the old middle. Time to tighten up those abs. Time to shed my beer belly!

Getting rid of my pot-belly is a reachable goal isn’t it? The much dreaded and often laughed about beer belly seems to have taken hold of my mid-section. I never looked like this in college. And I drank way more in those eight years of college than I have in the decade since. What is happening to me? Does this happen to others as well?

Sitting in the mall last weekend – waiting for the wife to wrap up her shopping – I watched as hundreds of shoppers passed by. Many were in much the same shape as I – carrying around a few extra pounds. Probably a pant size or two larger than they were just a few years ago. I don’t even know where she hid my jeans with the 32 inch waist. Probably sitting in some goodwill or thrift store right now. Or, long ago sold to some skinny soul.

How did we manage to stay slim in college while we partied and drank gallons of beer every weekend? Our tennis team was famous around campus for having the greatest parties every spring. We would hit tennis balls for hours after classes and then eat everything in sight for supper. How could we eat so much and enjoy so many fun-filled evenings and still manage to stay in decent shape?

Now that I’ve joined the corporate world and fifty plus hours are spent in the office each week, finding time for tennis or any sort of exercise is a real challenge. Getting the kids off to school and then rushing off to the office for yet another ten hour day. Coming home for a little family time around the supper table and some homework time with the little ones pretty much accounts for an average weekday!

Now that I’ve run through every excuse known to mankind - the time has come to make some time for exercise in my daily schedule. If I don’t plan for it – and stick to the plan - it will get pushed aside like so many other good ideas. Maybe if I start now, I’ll soon figure out the answer and stop wondering how to lose stomach fat! Maybe I’ll be in better shape by next Summer and be able to shed my shirt at the pool!

Who has time for getting in shape? Or at least trying to stay somewhat fit. Who knew what a juggling act we’d have to pull off - all in the name of parenting? Getting the little ones ready for school and Church. Trying to spend at least a half an hour working on their schoolwork each day. Trying to balance the joys of parenthood and family time with career objectives, Church, social, and civic activities - where does the time go?

And then scheduling even 30 minutes a day for exercise can be a challenge! Some days we get lucky and find 30 minutes at lunch to enjoy an energizing walk. And that just doesn’t seem enough. Here and there we get to the gym. Those days seems fewer and fewer lately. Time for ourselves can be a real luxury.

What if we didn’t even have to leave the house to get in a really great workout? What if we could get a great workout - at home? And not spend hours in the gym or wast even a moments time waiting for a machine to open up?

What if we could get up a few minutes before everyone else and kick start our day with a healthy dose of cardio on a machine many swear is the most efficient calorie burner ever designed? While we watch the morning news? Or enjoy our favorite playlists? Without even bothering to get fully dressed?

Many fitness lovers are somehow able to balance their obligations and still look great. They love having their own ultimate fat-burning machine and they use it - often. They’ve discovered the secret to great workouts - in less time - and in the comfort of their own homes! They enjoy a lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise!
