Burn More Fat - in Less Time

Do you want to burn some major calories? Are you hoping to drop a few pounds before Christmas? You might find high intensity interval training is just the thing! Interval Training gets your heart and lungs pumping! Your calorie burners are racing along after an intense interval workout like this -

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) only takes 20 or 30 minutes and involves short bursts of powerful exercise followed by a brief recovery. Use workouts that combine cardio and strength training to achieve the best results in the shortest amount of time using your own body weight. A HIIT session often consists of a warm up period of exercise, followed by three to ten repetitions of high intensity exercise, separated by medium intensity exercise for recovery, and ending with a period of cool down exercise. The high intensity exercise should be done at near maximum intensity. The medium exercise should be about 50% intensity. The number of repetitions and length of each depends on the exercise, but may be as little as three repetitions with just 20 seconds of intense exercise.

There is no specific formula to HIIT. Depending on one's level of cardiovascular development, the moderate-level intensity can be as slow as walking!

High Intensity Interval Training can be the ideal workout for your busy schedule. If you want to squeeze in a quick workout over your lunch break try doing the stairs. Research shows you can achieve more progress in as few as 15 minutes of interval training three times a week than you might by jogging on the treadmill for half an hour. Want to burn more fat in less time? You might want to try HIIT!
