How to Prevent Weight Gain

   The airwaves are filled with magic potions for losing weight.  Americans are faced with a growing number of good people who seem to just keep packing on the pounds. What is the cause of this alarming weight gain?





Two very simple causes appear to be at the forefront of this trend. Facebook and Google.  ( Just kidding... can you imagine life without these two handy tools?  Remember the 80s? )

Americans eat junk. Drive down any busy street and sooner or later you'll find a number of  quick and often inexpensive options for filling up on crap.Please excuse my choice of words. The big food sellers are most interested in one thing - making money. So they find inexpensive ways to make their junk food taste good. And offer little in the way of healthy calories.

So, if you want to feel better, lose weight, and improve your self image - quit eating fast food crap. That's really all it is.....Instead, why not make your own food. Cut out sugar and beef. ( OK, shoot me - I'm a total hypocrite - I Love a great steak. Just not every night! )  Eat more organic fruits and vegetables if you can. The more natural and less processed, the better. Give up white bread. And anything with high fructose sweetener. 




Drink more water - and way less soda.



 You just may save some cash and you can easily fill your body with healthy calories and nutrients!

On to the other often mentioned cause for the alarming obesity trend in the USA - inactivity. We don't get up and go enough. When you were a kid did you sit around the house after school ? Chances are you enjoyed getting outside and running around - having all kinds of fun. When the street light came on - you  might have been taught to get inside before darkness of night settled in. Your metabolism was burning calories long after you came inside for supper.





If we want to tackle - and defeat - this obesity trend the answer is very simple. We need more physical activity in our everyday routines.
