Have More Fun

Do you wish you could have more fun? Maybe you'd like to enjoy life a little more? You can have lots more fun and get more out of life when you get out and enjoy the fun of sports and exercise. If you're still hoping to shed a few pounds this Summer - daily exercise and eating healthy foods are vital to losing weight and keeping the excess weight off for good!

Here's a few tips to help:

Try something new! Join a tennis or bowling league. Swimming is great exercise and a refreshing way to burn more calories!

Vary your exercise program. Change exercises or invite friends to join you to make your workout more enjoyable. There is no “best” exercise – just the one that works best for you. Try golf - you can walk off a bunch of calories and enjoy nature while you're on the course!

Schedule your exercise time or workouts and treat them like a regular appointment. Write them in your planner. Be selfish with your exercise time.

Dress for your workout. Get a good pair of running shoes. Your feet will thank you!

Eliminate distractions – inform your family to not let anyone interrupt you. Other family members are allowed in your workout space only if they are going to work out with you. Make it family time! And don’t let anyone interfere with your family fitness time!

Turn off your cell phone. They’ll call back if it is really important!

Get some simple home fitness equipment and turn that extra bedroom into your very own mini fitness center!

Bring the entertainment to you. If you can’t put your fitness equipment near a TV or stereo, wear headphones or read a magazine. Entertainment makes the time fly by.

Install a mirror. A mirror will give your home gym that health-club feel and enable you to keep an eye on your form.

Keep a fitness journal. Nothing is more motivating than success, and an exercise diary gives you documentation of your accomplishments.

Visualize your success. See yourself a little slimmer - or alot! Start eating healthy foods every day. Get some aerobic exercise, and add in some resistance workouts. You be building muscles and getting in shape fast!

It may not be easy, especially at the start. But as you begin to feel better, look better and enjoy a new zest for life! Life is much more fun when you enjoy a healthy lifestyle!

Getting Started - Getting in Shape

Have you ever wished you could reverse the old aging clock? Or maybe just wish you had a little more energy? Are you searching for better balance in your life? Would you like less stress and maybe a better outlook on life?

Many hard working , busy people - just like you and I - have found when you start getting in shape, your life starts changing for the better. Better fitness and healthy habits lead to a long list of benefits.

Think about reasons why you have not been physically active. Then try to come up with some ways to get past what is keeping you from getting active.

Have you ever found yourself saying . . ?

"I haven't exercised or played any sports in a long time."

Well, just choose something you like to do. Many people find walking helps them get started. Before you know it, you will be doing more each day.

Or how about my all-time favorite excuse - "I just don't have the time."

Start with 10-minute chunks of time a couple of days a week. Walk during a break. Dance in the living room to your favorite music. Get up a few minutes before the rest of the family and enjoy twenty minutes on the elliptical.
It all adds up.

Or, how about - "It costs too much."

You don't have to join a fancy-pants health club or buy expensive workout equipment to be active. Play tag with your kids. Walk briskly with your dog for 10 minutes or more.

Start by doing what you can, and then look for ways to do more. If you have not been active for a while, start out slowly. After several weeks or months, build up your activities—do them longer and more often.

Walking is one way to add physical activity to your life. When you first start, walk 10 minutes a day on a few days during the first couple of weeks.

Add more time and days. Walk a little longer. Try 15 minutes instead of 10 minutes. Then walk on more days a week.

Pick up the pace. Once this is easy to do, try walking faster. Keep up your brisk walking for a couple of months. You might want to add biking on the weekends for variety.

The key is getting started! Start getting in shape and you'll soon enjoy some of the positive results fitness offers us all!

Who has time for getting in shape? Or at least trying to stay somewhat fit. Who knew what a juggling act we’d have to pull off - all in the name of parenting? Getting the little ones ready for school and Church. Trying to spend at least a half an hour working on their schoolwork each day. Trying to balance the joys of parenthood and family time with career objectives, Church, social, and civic activities - where does the time go?

And then scheduling even 30 minutes a day for exercise can be a challenge! Some days we get lucky and find 30 minutes at lunch to enjoy an energizing walk. And that just doesn’t seem enough. Here and there we get to the gym. Those days seems fewer and fewer lately. Time for ourselves can be a real luxury.

What if we didn’t even have to leave the house to get in a really great workout? What if we could get a great workout - at home? And not spend hours in the gym or wast even a moments time waiting for a machine to open up?

What if we could get up a few minutes before everyone else and kick start our day with a healthy dose of cardio on a machine many swear is the most efficient calorie burner ever designed? While we watch the morning news? Or enjoy our favorite playlists? Without even bothering to get fully dressed?

Many fitness lovers are somehow able to balance their obligations and still look great. They love having their own ultimate fat-burning machine and they use it - often. They’ve discovered the secret to great workouts - in less time - and in the comfort of their own homes! They enjoy a lifestyle of healthy eating and exercise!

Many people think that as we age, we tend to slow down and do less; that physical decline is an inevitable consequence of aging. For the most part, this is not true. According to Fitness experts, much of the physical frailty attributed to aging is actually the result of inactivity, disease, or poor nutrition. But the good news is – many problems can be helped or even reversed by improving lifestyle behaviors. One of the major benefits of regular physical activity is protection against coronary heart disease. Physical activity also provides some protection against other chronic diseases such as adult-onset diabetes, arthritis, hypertension, certain cancers, osteoporosis and depression. In addition, research has proven that exercise can ease tension and reduce the amount of stress you feel.

Once you begin your daily exercise routine, keep these points in mind to get the best results:

  • Always drink plenty of water before, during and after your exercise session.
  • Make exercising a part of your daily routine. Set a regular time to exercise each day and invite a friend to join you.
  • Start slow - 5 to 10 minutes at first.
  • Gradually increase the amount of exercise each day, up to about 30 to 60 minutes.
  • Breathe deeply and evenly during and between exercises. Never hold your breath.
  • Rest when necessary - Get Plenty of Sleep!
  • Keep a record of your progress. You'll be amazed by your own progress!
  • Exercise to your favorite music or with friends for even more fun.
