Spring into Fun!


What just happened? How did we get to the month of May so quickly? Schools everywhere will soon be letting out for the Summer! Are you ready to have some serious Summer fun? Spending time outdoors with family and friends! Going to the lake or the beach. Heading out to the ballpark for an evening of softball fun.

Soon we'll all be wearing a whole lot fewer clothes. ( I can hardly wait to ditch these sweaters for the next few months! ) Are you ready for shorts and tee-shirts? For tank-tops and swimsuits?

If you've managed to gain a few pounds over these last few months spent mostly indoors, don't fret. You can still shed those extra pounds before Memorial Day and the unofficial start of Summer! This weekend is the perfect time to start. If you have the opportunity to get outdoors - go for it! Get out there and work off some of those calories we could all stand to burn!

Sneak in some time in the yard working on your garden. Head out to the tennis courts and have some fun while you kick start your metabolism! No time for tennis? A quick paced walk for 20 minutes will get your heart rate going and help you burn more calories long after you slow down!

Pass by that fat-food eatery and grab a healthy snack instead. Pick up some apples and your favorite fruits and vegetables. Make today a healthy foods day in your home! Or how about a picnic in the park with some simple, low-fat snacks? Pack some cherry tomatoes and a bunch of grapes. Or how about those little carrots and some celery sticks? A handful of walnuts will give your brain a boost and provide some healthy fats!

Then get up and toss the frisbee or ride your bike. Chase your children around the playground or have them join you in a race around the park. Any day is great for sharing some fun time outside with the little ones! Show them the value of having fun away from the TV or video game! Enjoy some active, energetic fun with your family! You'll all feel great and sleep like babies tonight!
