Interval Training Burns More Fat in Less Time

Want to ramp up your workouts and burn more calories? Try interval Training! Increase your intensity and you'll burn the same number of calories or more in less time. Next time you go for a bike ride, or run try picking up your pace to kick-start your calorie burn. Start by doing three eight-second all-out, can't-talk sprints with 12 seconds at an easy pace between each effort. Work your way up until you can do 10 sprints over 20 minutes.

In one study, volunteers either rode their bike for 45 minutes at a steady pace or for 25 minutes of intervals. They switched off - doing 10 seconds at a fast pace and 20 seconds at a more relaxed pace of easy pedaling. After 3 months, the volunteers who used the sprints in their daily exercise had lost three times as much body fat! (including the dreaded tummy fat) Bursts of speed can help start a fat-burning response within your muscles.
